Month of NOVEMBER: Souls in Purgatory
The month of November is dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory, whose feast is celebrated on November 2 at "All Souls Day"

The month of November is dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory, whose feast is celebrated on November 2 at "All Souls Day". The Last Sunday of November then marks the beginning of the Advent season, and a time of penance.

The Holy Father's Intentions for the Month of November 2008

General: That the testimony of love offered by the Saints, may fortify Christians in their service to God and neighbour, imitating Christ who came not to be served but to serve.

Missionary: That Christian communities in Asia, contemplating the face of Christ, may find the most suitable way to announce Him in full fidelity to the Gospel to the peoples of that vast continent so rich in culture and ancient forms of spirituality.

The Archdiocesan Youth Day "Act1v8" (Activate!)

18 October 2008
- This was a long and big day for all parishes. All our Con 3 teens were involved in a whole day of activities & reflections based on the theme "Acts 1:8", to be empowered by the Holy Spirit, in the light of WYD 2008's theme!

Organised by the Catholic Archdiocesan Youth Centre in conjunction with all Parishes in Singapore, we first had sessions including praise & worship at OLPS. This was the parish segment.

It then followed by a rocking rally at the Toa Payoh Sports Stadium where Franciscan Brother Derrick was the emcee, lighting up the whole night with his cool emceeing.

No one knew that our religious brothers could be so entertaining!

Keep watch for our next issue on photos of AYD and the recent Confirmation 3 Camp!

Continue to pray for the right to life!
Abortion is murder.

Pray for the Church in Argentina: that abortion will NOT be legalized. No matter what you think, every child IS created in the image and likeness of God and is precious in His eyes. Abortion IS MURDER.

Watch the video, how heartening to see the young people so in love for Christ and His beloved spouse, the Church, defending it despites the verbal (and physical!) abuses.

"Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Pray for the young Argentine faithful.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Amen.

29 November 2008: World AIDS Day Mass

THE WORLD AIDS Day Mass will be celebrated on Nov 29, 6.00pm at Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. The service includes a music interlude and a poetry recital.

The theme of the Mass is “Returning to Hope” which exhorts and encourages all to focus on the silver lining in every setback, and on the good that God is able to draw out of seemingly hopeless situations. It is also a reminder to all that we are to be bearers of that hope to the hopeless.

There will also be an exhibition at the foyer-porch of the cathedral to highlight the plight of PWAs (People living With AIDS) and the work of CARE's Shelter, and an enquiry counter for those who wish to volunteer.

"Dare to be Daniel"
26 - 29 November 2008

The CAYC Youth Ministry Office invites youths (15 & above) to a fun & experiential camp with other youths of the Archdiocese. Cost: $35

This camp is based on the lives of Daniel, Susanna, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as told in the Book of Daniel. Daniel is an example for us. His relationship with God gave him conviction and he was a faithful, courageous and prayerful person.

Dare to be Daniel is a time for Catholic youths from across the Archdiocese to come together for an experience in prayer and discipleship. It will also equip the young leaders with basic tools for this walk in faith- prayer, word & journaling.
